Hey, remember that time I tweeted out that I’d get a celebratory tattoo if the Oilers made the playoffs? I do, ’cause it’s on my foot now. 
Ten years is a long time. Ten years of watching your team miss the mark is even longer. Even before I became a member of the Nation team, I was a fan of the statement, “Hope Will Never Die”. So, after becoming a part of the Nation team and finding ourselves in the playoffs after ten long years of playoff-less hockey, I decided to permanently mark those words on my body.
Despite being in the eighth grade, I can still remember the heartbreak that came after the ’06 loss, and even more evidently, I can still feel the heartbreak that came every year after that season… for a decade. Despite their losing record, I continued to invest myself in the Oilers. I refused to turn the games off, even in the worst of times. I watched, I analyzed, I cried, I cheered, I cursed, and above all, I believed. To be honest, the Oilers helped me through a lot of my own trials and tribulations, even despite their record. Being an Oilers faithful has always helped me to feel a part of something and given me something to focus on. That’s why this post-season means so much to me, and to many others, and that’s why I decided to get a tattoo representing all of this.
And I’m not the only one who celebrated the post-season with a tattoo. Adam, Oilersnation sales guy extraordinaire, decided to get a tattoo as well. His is far more… Nation-centric (and badass).
This brave soul tattooed the Oilersnation logo on his back. While in Mexico a few years ago, he told Wanye that he would do it… and here we are. If there were ever an appropriate time to get this bad boy on your back, it would be now.
Adam and I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Amanda and Patrick over at DragonFX in West Edmonton Mall. Amanda helped me organize these tattoos from start to finish and Patrick used his stellar skills to put the ink on our bodies. These two were absolutely incredible throughout the entire process and if (when) I go back for more ink, I’ll definitely be going this route again!
