Josh Archibald has a broken right foot. He is out 2-4 weeks. Won't miss his offence as he has no points and eight shots in eight games. However, they will miss his speed on PK. He is averaging most min/game among forwards at 2:16. #Oilers

This afternoon, the @Edmonton Oilers announced via their social platforms that the team has placed forward, @Josh Archibald, on the Injured Reserve for the next two to four weeks with a fractured foot.
The Oilers’ injury woes continued this week as Josh Archibald finds himself on the shelf for the next few weeks with a broken foot. The forward has been primarily used in a defensive role with the Oilers this season as is conveyed by his 36.4 oZS%. For Sunday’s game against the Panthers, the Oilers won’t necessarily need to recall a forward yet as Tomas Jurco will likely draw back into the lineup, presumably alongside @Markus Granlund and @Sam Gagner. If the team does recall someone, I do wonder whether they’ll go the route of bringing up a skilled forward like @Kailer Yamamoto or another bottom-six type such as @Josh Currie. Either way, we’ll keep everyone updated.
In eight games played this season, Archibald has averaged 11:18 worth of ice time, has no points, and sports a 45.9 CF% to go along with eight shots on goal and 13 hits. During the 2018-19 season with the @Arizona Coyotes, Archibald registered 22 points in 68 games while primarily playing a defensive role.
