Round and round, the goalie carousel in Edmonton goes.
Twenty four hours after being placed on waivers by the Oilers, Troy Grosenick has been reclaimed by the LA Kings — the team the Oilers originally got him from on the waiver wire.
The Grosenick era wasn’t a long one lasting only a month. Edmonton claimed him after losing Anton Forsberg on waivers to Carolina, and when Mike Smith went down with a still unknown injury that caused him to be placed on the IR.
Grosenick arrived in Edmonton and underwent a two-week quarantine in line with the NHL’s COVID protocols, and only got in a few practices with the team. Last week, he dressed for two games as a backup.
Smith is believed to be very close to returning and I imagine that’s why the Oilers placed Grosenick off waivers, but the move now means that Stuart Skinner will remain as the team’s third goaltender.
Sail on, Troy.
