While all eyes are on Connor McDavid’s pursuit of 100 points tonight, Leon Draisaitl just completed quite the accomplishment of his own.
In the second period, Draisaitl buried a one-timer on the power-play to give the Oilers a 3-2 lead. The goal represented the 500th point of Draisaitl’s NHL career. Draisaitl hit the 500-point plateau in the 475th game of his career.
Draisaitl is now the ninth player to record 500 points as an Oiler. Connor McDavid became the eighth earlier this season, the others are Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Ryan Smyth, and Doug Weight. Draisaitl is also the first German player to record 500 points in the NHL.
