This summer, Oilersnation will recap the top five Edmonton Oilers goals, the top five fights, and the top five overall moments from the up-and-down 2025-26 season.
To the surprise of no one, the best player of all-time happened to score the best goal for the Edmonton Oilers this past season. Connor McDavid’s goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 10, 2025, was always going to be the best goal from the 2025-26 season.
This game was one of the better games of the Oilers’ season; it had everything. Trent Frederic dropped the gloves with Mathieu Olivier, one of the top-rated Oilers fights this season. Jake Walman scored a late-game-tying goal before the Oilers completed the comeback in overtime. That overtime goal was scored by Jack Roslovic, the first of two consecutive games that Roslovic scored during three-on-three action.
On top of all that, McDavid’s early-in-the-third-period goal ranks as our best Oiler goal of the season.

McDavid breaks ankles with a spin-o-rama

Remember Linus Omark’s shootout goal that began with a spin-o-rama, featured a fake slapshot, and won the game for the Oilers? Yeah, that goal has nothing on McDavid’s goal.
Receiving the puck in the neutral zone, McDavid got the zone and the Oilers had a two-on-two rush with a Blue Jacket defender not far behind. But McDavid doesn’t need a teammate. At the top of the faceoff circle, he made a quick move to get the puck on his forehand while feinting to the left.
The Blue Jackets’ defender, Ivan Provorov, bit on that feint and attempted to close the space. However, McDavid instead did a spin-o-rama, dropping the defender and giving him a clear lane to the goal. Even then, the Oilers’ captain did the unexpected, firing it on goal with a backhand shot immediately, something that caught the Blue Jackets’ netminder off guard.
As nice as the move was, the shot was just as good, maybe even better. This wasn’t some soft backhand fluttered on goal, this was a laser destined for the top left corner, and destined to be our top Oilers goal of the 2025-26 season.
Here’s to hopefully many more highlight reel goals from the human highlight reel.
