Welcome BACK to the Nation Donair tour. As usual, we’re roaming around Edmonton looking to find the best donair that we can crown with the No. 97 ranking. This week, Edmonton media legend and the city’s true Anchorman Gord Steinke invited us to hit up 99 Sub & Donair in the south side.

I have to say, this was one of the strongest donairs we’ve had on the tour. Mad props to Gord for finding this gem and bringing us here. It had an elite meat, cooked to perfection so it was juicy and flavourful, and the pita was steamed nicely. It ended up with rave reviews from the group as we enjoyed a nice, warm day winter talk outside on a bench in the parking lot — true Edmonton style.

The best thing about this one? We enjoyed it in the afternoon and it didn’t put me in a food coma. I was able to get work done rather than going back to the office and vegging out.
