Former Edmonton Oilers forward Brendan Perlini has inked a professional tryout with the Carolina Hurricanes, the club announced Monday night.
The 27-year-old, who spent the 2021-22 season in the Oilers organization, will look to regain his footing in the hockey world after playing only 67 pro games over the last two years.
In that season with the Oilers, he appeared in 23 NHL games scoring four goals and five, but had more success in the AHL scoring 11 goals and 18 points in 18 games with the Bakersfield Condors.
Last year, Perlini played with the AHL&#8217;s Chicago Wolves scoring 10 goals and 15 points in 26 games.
The Hurricanes also announced that forward Cory Conacher to a PTO.

Details have started to leak out about the start of the new PWHL — a professional women&#8217;s hockey league combining talents from the two former women&#8217;s leagues, the Professional Women&#8217;s Hockey Player Association (PWHPA) and the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF).
Six franchises have been announced with none in the facility of Alberta: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and the New York City area.

As widely speculated, longtime NHL executive Brian Burke was confirmed for a major leadership role Tuesday. He has signed on as executive director of the PWHL players’ association. He previously served on the now-defunct CWHL’s board of advisors.
In July, the PWHPA unanimously ratified a collective bargaining agreement running through 2031. Included in it: a salary range or $35,000 to $80,000 for players on active rosters, including at least six players on every franchise signed for three or more years at no less than $80,000.
