It really is time for the NHL to sort this out, because we have been robbed of major tournaments for far too long. In fact, the last time we saw one was in 2016 during the World Cup of Hockey, and it feels like a lifetime ago. <h1>Russia, Belarus suspensions continue</h1>
In other international hockey news, Russia and Belarus&#8217; suspensions from IIHF tournaments will continue through 2023-24. Both nations have been banned since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022 and has included last years men&#8217;s U-18 World Championships among others.
“Based on a detailed risk assessment from a renowned company that specializes in assessing risks due to various global challenges, the IIHF Council determined that it is not yet safe to reincorporate the Russian and Belarusian Teams back into IIHF Competitions,” a statement read.
