Brandon Davidson is on his way to Sweden.
The former Edmonton Oilers defenceman, now 31, signed a deal to play for Farjestad BK through the remainder of the season. There, he’ll play with other former Oilers in Joakin Nygard, who has scored 11 goals and 26 points in 40 games this season, and Theodor Lennstrom, who spent time with the Bakersfield Condors in 2020-21 and has 12 goals and 29 points in 30 games this year.
Davidson has spent this season between the AHL’s Rochester Americans, where he scored one assist in nine games, and the Cleveland Monsters, who has scored three goals and six points in 27 games.
Drafted by the Oilers in the 6th round of the 2010 draft, Davidson spent parts of four seasons with the big club over two stints appearing in 114 games scoring eight goals and 17 points.
Kings extend Anderson
The LA Kings have extended defenceman Mikey Anderson to an eight-year, $4.125-million contract, the club announced Wednesday.
Anderson, 23, was drafted by the Kings in the fourth round of the 2017 draft.
“We’re excited to have a player of Mikey Anderson’s caliber signed to the Kings long-term,” Kings vice president and general manager Rob Blake said in a statement. “Mikey has not only developed into a trusted, shut-down player on the ice, but a well-respected individual in the room that we envision continuing to grow into our leadership core.”
He’s appeared in 55 games this year for the Kings scoring two goals and 13 points while logging 21:49 per night.
Anderson was set to become a restricted free agent this offseason.
Preds prospect L’Heureux suspended 10 games by QMJHL
Embattled Nashville Predators prospect Zachary L’Heureux has been suspended 10 games by the QMJHL, the league announced Wednesday.
The Halifax Mooseheads forward was suspended indefinitely by the league last week after an incident with a fan. In a video circulated on social media, L’Heureux can be seen leaving the ice but pushed his stick through an opening to where fans are seated. This is the 19-year-old’s ninth suspension in his QMJHL career.
Here’s some of what Daily Faceoff’s Colton Davies wrote about the suspension:
Last week, the QMJHL announced that he would be suspended indefinitely. QMJHL Director of Player Safety, Eric Chouinard spoke on the altercation and the decision behind suspending L’Heureux, “As demonstrated in the new video footage obtained by the League, the player’s gesture which occurred following the game simply cannot be tolerated by the QMJHL. Moreover, since the player has been suspended on several occasions, he is considered as a repeat offender.”Chouinard consulted with the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action and based upon L’Heureux’s history, they felt a longer suspension was needed. Mooseheads former advisory board member Alex Joseph condemned the actions. “The fans, they pay to get in but they don’t pay to make contact to a player, but once that happens, the players got to be cool and just go to the box,” he said.Joseph reiterated that this type of action is not allowed and the QMJHL would be strict with the suspension: “If you’ve got a history in which unfortunately this player does have a lot of history of suspensions, they’re going to set precedent and that could be three, six or 12. It’s tough where this goes but they are going to go tough on it.”
