On Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets announced they had re-signed forward David Gustafsson and defenceman Logan Stanley to two-year contracts.
Stanley will receive a small pay raise compared to his previous $1 million deal with his new contract, which carries an average annual value of $1.25 million through the 2025-26 season.
This past season, the defenceman struggled to stay consistent in the lineup and was sidelined as a healthy scratch for most of the 2023-24 campaign. Stanley recorded one goal and two points throughout 25 games with a plus/minus of +4. Additionally, the 26-year-old contributed throughout three of the Jet’s five games in the first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche, collecting one assist and a -1 rating.
After being selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, Stanley spent his first few seasons with the Manitoba Moose, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Jets. However, he has consistently played in the NHL over the past four years, showing promise and potential. The defenceman has scored four goals and 18 assists with a +17 rating.
Gustafsson’s contract will carry a payday of $835,000 throughout the 2025-26 season before becoming a restricted free agent with arbitration rights.
Similar to Stanley, Gustafsson often found himself scratched more often than not. The 24-year-old recorded three goals and four assists with a +1 rating.
Gustafsson was originally selected in the second round by the Jets in the 2018 Draft. He joined the team for the 2019-20 season and has been between the Moose and Jets ever since. Gustafsson recorded 24 goals and 35 assists throughout 113 NHL games. In 88 AHL games, he has collected 24 goals and 59 points.

Jets acquire Dylan Coghlan from Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets have acquired restricted free-agent defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for future consideration, the club announced Saturday.
The 26-year-old defenceman spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign with the Hurricanes American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. With the Thunderbirds, Coghlan ranked second in points and first amongst defencemen in goals (16), assists (25), and points (41) throughout 61 games.
Coming off a one-year extension he signed last summer with the Hurricanes, Coghlan is ready to bring his recent momentum to the Jets. During the 2022-23 campaign, the defenceman recorded three assists while averaging 12:43 of ice time a night across 17 games with Carolina.
Coghlan was originally acquired by the Hurricanes from the Las Vegas Golden Knights in July 2022 after signing an entry-level deal as an undrafted prospect with the Golden Knights in 2017. He made his debut in 2020-21.
Coghlan has recorded six goals and 22 points while averaging 13:46 a night throughout 106 games split between the Golden Knights and Hurricanes.
