Over a dozen players have filed for salary arbitration on Friday with only one Western Conference player having done so: San Jose Sharks defenceman Ty Emberson.
Emberson, along with 13 other restricted free agents, will take their case to a neutral judge after being unable to find a middle ground with their respective teams.
The lone Edmonton Oilers RFA with arbitration rights is Raphael Lavoie, who didn’t elect for arbitration.
Lavoie, 23, was drafted by the Oilers in the second round of the 2019 draft, and scored 28 goals and 22 assists for 50 points in 66 games with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors last season. Each of those were career-highs in the pro game for the winger. He had arbitration rights last year and didn’t elect, instead accepting a qualifying offer from the Oilers which gave him a $874,125 AAV.
Here’s the list of players who did elect for arbitration, as noted by Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli:
The Oilers could elect for arbitration with Lavoie on Saturday afternoon, with the deadline set for 3 p.m. MST.

Ex-Oiler signs with Kings

Former Edmonton Oilers defenceman Caleb Jones has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings, the club announced Friday.
The deal will see him earn $775,000 at the NHL level and $425,000 in the minor leagues, with $440,000 guaranteed, according to PuckPedia.
Jones, 27, was drafted by the Oilers in the fourth round of the 2015 draft, breaking into the pro ranks in the 2017-18 season. He would appear in 93 NHL games for the Oilers over the course of three seasons, scoring five goals and 19 points, and 125 AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors, scoring 11 goals and 57 points.
He departed the organization in July 2021 trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in which Edmonton brought back Duncan Keith.
In the years since, he’s carved out a nice career for himself since, spending two years with the Chicago Blackhawks and last with the Colorado Avalanche. He’s appeared in 149 games between them, scoring nine goals and 36 points, while scoring six points in 13 AHL games with the Avalanche’s affiliate last season.
