An Edmonton Oilers prospect is on the move in the Ontario Hockey League, after the Ottawa 67’s traded forward Brady Stonehouse to the Peterborough Petes.
In exchange for the 20-year-old, the 67’s received a 2027 fourth-round pick originally belonging to the Sudbury Wolves, and a 2028 sixth-round pick.
Stonehouse, ranked this summer as the Oilers’ 17th ranked prospect by Oilersnation. was signed by the team to a three-year entry-level deal in October 2023, with his deal sliding. He’s appeared in 18 games this season for Ottawa, scoring five goals and 10 points, but has seen dips in production in each of the last three seasons.
He had 37 goals and 57 points in 68 games in 2022-23, 20 goals and 44 points in 2023-24, and now, his numbers have dropped more.
Still, Petes general manager and vice president of operations Michael Oke said they were excited to help continue his development before he turns pro next season.
“Brady is an extremely competitive forward who plays hard at both ends of the ice,” said Oke in a statement. “Having played over 200 games in the OHL, we know that his experience will be very beneficial for our young group. We’re looking forward to having him join our team and aiding in his development as he prepares to turn pro next season.”
TSN 1200’s Kenny Walls, who covers the 67’s, highlighted how the team has a litany of overagers, and needed to get down to three ahead of the OHL’s trade deadline on Friday.
Stonehouse will join a Petes team that sits at the bottom of the league standings with a 8-23-2-4 record, but his old 67’s weren’t faring much better, ranking 14th of 20 teams with a 14-16-3-5 record.
