Forwards Isaac Howard and Quinn Hutson have both been named to the 2025-26 AHL All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Per the release, the team is voted on “by coaches, players and media representing each of the league’s 32 member cities.” The two Edmonton Oilers prospects join forward Ilya Protas, defencemen Tyson Jugnauth and Dmitri Simashev, and goaltender Sergei Murashov as part of this year’s group.
After acquiring Howard in a trade last summer and signing him to a three-year entry-level contract, the 22-year-old split his year between Bakersfield and Edmonton. Despite playing just 45 games in the AHL, the 2025 Hobey Baker Award winner finished third on the Condors in goals (22) and fourth in points (47). His 1.04 points/game led all Bakersfield skaters, and was 14th in the league amongst players with at least 40 games played.
In 29 appearances with the Oilers, Howard had two goals and three assists, averaging just over 10 minutes of ice time per game. His first NHL goal came on October 21st against the Ottawa Senators. On Sunday, Howard was called back up to the Oilers amidst continued late-season injury trouble.
Hutson, meanwhile, was signed to a two-year entry-level contract last season as an undrafted prospect out of Boston University. The 24-year-old has had a fantastic year with the Condors, currently at 30 goals in 65 games, the fifth-highest tally in the AHL this season. Additionally, his 61-point total lands him second on the Condors and 10th in the league overall.
After playing two games in Edmonton at the end of last year, Hutson made four appearances with the Oilers this season. On December 18th, the Illinois native scored his first NHL goal, a game-winner against the Boston Bruins. In January, Hutson signed a two-year extension to remain with the Oilers organization through the 2027-28 season.
The AHL regular season comes to a close this weekend, with playoffs set to kick off next week. The Bakersfield Condors currently sit fifth in the league’s Pacific Division and clinched their postseason berth this week.
