It’s an Oilers reunion!

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Oilers are signing Tobias Rieder to a one-year, $2-million deal.

The Oilers bring home another former player in the form of Rieder.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, Rieder never played a game for the Oilers and was traded to the Arizona Coyotes for Kale Kessy.

Rieder, a German, has had a very respectable NHL career with the Coyotes and LA Kings, scoring 117 points in 312 games.

The 25-year-old is coming off a season that saw him split time between Arizona and LA, scoring 25 points in 78 games.

A versatile forward like Rieder has the ability to move up and down the lineup, and has spent a lot of time killing penalties in his career.

This marks the third signing of the day for the Oilers, after inking Kyle Brodziak and Kevin Gravel earlier in the day.

The Edmonton Journal’s Jim Matheson said on Twitter shortly after the signing that Rieder and Leon Draisaitl are good friends from the German hockey program.

He speculated that Rieder could line up on Draisaitl’s wing this fall.

On top of that, the pair played together during the Worlds and at the World Cup of Hockey.
