The Edmonton Oilers aim to close out their current four-game road trip with a third straight victory when they visit the Calgary Flames on Saturday night as slim -115 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton completed the sweep of its nine-game season series with the Ottawa Senators with a 3-1 victory on Thursday, and now rides its first road win streak since late February into Saturday night’s matchup at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Oilers vs Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Oilers’ success in this week’s two-game series in Ottawa was welcome after the team posted wins in just two of its previous seven road contests. Despite their road woes, though, the Oilers have been steady in recent weeks, posting wins in seven of their past 10 overall outings to remain just five points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the race for top spot in the North Division standings.
Edmonton’s continued presence near the top of the divisional standings has fueled speculation over how active the team would be ahead of Monday’s NHL trade deadline. The Oilers are believed to be potential suitors for a number of players that could change addresses before the deadline. Most notable among them is Jake DeBrusk. The Boston Bruins are reportedly fielding offers for the talented scoring winger, with Edmonton leading the way on the betting lines to be his destination if DeBrusk is moved.
With the Bruins struggling offensively all season, DeBrusk has not scored at the same pace he has in recent seasons. However, his addition would give a lift to an Oilers attack that has relied heavily on Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The duo have been credited with over a third of the team’s total goals this season, and over 40% of the team’s offensive production since the beginning of March.
But the Oilers’ supporting cast have made big contributions in recent dates with Calgary. While Edmonton has tallied 23 total goals in its past five meetings with the Flames, Draisaitl has scored just once during that stretch, and McDavid has been limited to just two total goals over his past four appearances in Calgary. However, the team has averaged just 2.57 goals per game over its past seven, fueling a 7-1 run for the UNDER at sports betting sites.
While the Oilers look ahead to the playoffs, the Flames look to avoid losing five in a row for the first time this season as they take the ice on Saturday as -105 underdogs. Overall, Calgary has lost eight of nine, including four of five on home ice, averaging just 1.77 goals per game during that stretch.
