The Edmonton Oilers came into Dallas and stole Game 1 last night thanks to a double overtime winner from Connor McDavid. The Oilers did hold a 2-0 lead in the second period thanks to goals from Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman. However, a couple of fortunate bounces that fell to Tyler Seguin allowed the Stars to tie the game up. Nevertheless, Edmonton found a way to go up 1-0 in the Western Conference Final.
Along with the McDavid winner, there were plenty of storylines from last night. Stuart Skinner was fantastic between the pipes with a 0.939 save percentage, which was arguably his best game of the playoffs. The penalty kill was also perfect, with huge contributions from the bottom six. Also, the Oilers stars managed to outshine Dallas’ top players.
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will discuss all of that and more on Oilersnation Everyday, which goes live at noon on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. Want your thoughts on the show? Leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Charm Diamond Centres YouTube live chat. Tyler and Liam strongly encourage you to interact with them throughout the show.
Also on today’s show, former QMJHL coach Jon Goyens joins Tyler and Liam to discuss last night’s Game 1 victory. They’ll discuss the Oilers’ successful penalty, how their systems have helped them in the playoffs, and a few other notes from the game.
