The Edmonton Oilers set a franchise record on Saturday night with their tenth win in a row. Samuel Montembault did everything in his power to prevent the Oilers from beating the Montreal Canadiens, but an Evan Bouchard slap shot in overtime hit the post and then Montembault to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead.
With the win, Edmonton now sits only one point behind the Los Angeles Kings, who are third in the Pacific Division. Fortunately for the Oilers, while they have been winning, the Kings and Vegas Golden Knights are two of the coldest teams in the NHL. The Kings have won only two of their last ten, and the Golden Knights have only three wins in that period, too.
The gap is tightened and with the three more games on the schedule this week, the Edmonton Oilers have a great opportunity to make their way back into the conversation.
