Oilersnation Everyday: The Edmonton Oilers hire Stan Bowman

Jul 24, 2024, 10:00 EDTUpdated: Aug 12, 2024, 19:03 EDT
Welcome in to another summer edition of Oilersnation Everyday. Tyler Yarmechuk is still away so Liam Horrobin is guiding the show alongside Aaron Bordato. The guys are live from Sherwood Powersports and Marine today in the heart of Sherwood Park so, if you’re in the area, come and say hello.
The Edmonton Oilers search for a new general manager has ended. This morning, the team announced via X that former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman is the new man in town. Bowman has been out of a job since leaving the Blackhawks following the Kyle Beach situation. The decision to go with Bowman has Oilers fans questioning the decision.
It’s key that we hear from you today. During the show, leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Greta Bar YouTube live chat. Did the Oilers make the right decision giving Bowman a second chance? Let Liam know throughout the program.
Aside from the Beach incident, Bowman’s track record with trades and signing players to new contracts wasn’t great in Chicago. He signed many players to legacy contracts and traded away many more which harmed the teams production on the ice. How will he change that in Edmonton?
Lastly, we’ll be grading the performance of Mattias Janmark. How has he fared this season? We’ll analyze his contributions on the ice and provide a comprehensive player grade.
