Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast – Edmonton Oilers vs Pittsburgh Penguins

Dec 20, 2019, 16:00 ESTUpdated: Dec 20, 2019, 15:12 EST
After dropping a close, one-goal decision to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night, the Oilers return home to face the @Pittsburgh Penguins. With just three games to go until the Christmas break and the Oilers clinging to a playoff spot, this weekend’s games are crucial.
The Penguins have been hammered by the injury bug this season but they haven’t let that slow them down. They’re currently on a three-game winning streak and have the 7th most wins in the league. They always play the Oilers tough, Pittsburgh had won nine of their last ten meetings heading into this weekend, but the first meeting of the 2019/20 season back in November did go to Edmonton. That game featured a 51 save performance from @Mike Smith, who has struggled mightily in his last few appearances, and a beautiful overtime winner from @Leon Draisaitl.
With @Sidney Crosby and a pair of big-name defensemen not in the lineup for the Penguins, the Oilers certainly have a chance tonight. I go through all the injury notes, some interesting lineup decisions from Dave Tippett, and more in today’s Pre Game Pod (pres. by YEG Burger)!
