Oilersnation Radio Episode 42 – The hunt for Ogopogo

Happy Friday, citizens! Welcome to a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to lead you into the weekend and give you a fill of Oilers news that you won’t get anywhere else. This week, we recap the start of free agency, the ongoing Jesse Puljujarvi saga, and take a few swings on what Ken Holland might be up to next.
With the opening days of free agency in the books, we got the band back together to talk about the moves Ken Holland pulled out on July 1st. While some Oilers fans were upset about the lack of sexy signings, the team basically did what they could given the lack of cap space they had to work with. One of the more controversial signings that did happen was the acquisition of former Calgary Flames goalie Mike Smith, so we walked through the signing and wondered how he will work with Mikko Koskinen. Sticking with free agency, we looked at the players that are left on the board and wondered if any of them might land in Oilers silks come October. Changing gears, we looked at the Jesse Puljujarvi saga and the rumour that the Los Angeles Kings could have interest in the maligned former fourth overall pick. From there, Wanye walked us through his experience at the Edmonton Stingers game and described what it was like to sit courtside like Drake. Lastly, Jay ‘the Squire’ Downton called into the show to talk about the ITU World Triathlon that’s coming up on July 21-22nd and how he will be competing against Rick and Cooom to see who will walk away with bragging rights for life.
