Welcome to the yearly wrap up of the top read articles over the last year!
If you’ve read this series so far, you will have seen lots of rumours articles. Well, here’s another one.
This year, the 19th most read article was written by Dustin Nielson and published on Feb. 11.
It took a look at the potential for a trade with the New Jersey Devils.
Nielson identified a number of players that could fit the bill for the Oilers.
Kyle Palmieri, Blake Coleman, Miles Wood and Pavel Zacha all made the list. Only one of the four was traded ahead of the deadline in Coleman, who was shipped to Tampa Bay for Nolan Foote and a 1st round pick (Vancouver) in the 2020 NHL Draft.
While that was too high of a price to pay for the Oilers, they ended up cirling back on cheaper options in Andreas Athanasiou and Tyler Ennis. Who knows, maybe the Oilers could still call the Devils up for one of hte other players.
Here’s an excerpt of what Nielson wrote:
There is one team kind of stuck in limbo that may be willing to really mix things up.There is no shortage of options in New Jersey and considering the current state of the franchise the Oilers may be able to take advantage of them. Who would you like to see them go after and at what price?
