You win some, you lose some. Edmonton gave a valiant effort last night against the Flames down a forward and defencemen for the majority of the game. Despite how hard they tried, they just couldn’t get a lead.
Here’s a few select comments from last night’s post-game press conference:
Josh Archibald
On the game:
“I think we were little slow in the first, but we turned things around. We just made more mistakes than them and they capitalized on them. I think that was the tell-tale of the game.”“I think if we limit our mistakes, it limits their chances and goals. Unfortunate for us, we just made more mistakes tonight and they capitalized on them. We had a good flow going out there when juju (Jujhar Khaira) was out there, so when he went down it was tough to keep that flow.”
On the Flames new look under Darryl Sutter:
“They got a lot of jump and they’re coming a lot harder, forechecks, neutral zone forechecks. They’re bringing two guys hard. we just have to realize what they’re doing and move the puck quick.”
Adam Larsson
On the game:
“They came out hard, they played a really structured, strong game with their new coach. I thought we came back and had a chance to win the game, but we didn’t. It’s a rival game, it means a lot to both teams, big pride is going into that. We just need to find ways to win games, no matter who we play.”
On the Oilers play:
“I still think we’re doing a lot of good things. We’ve got enough chances to win games, but tonight we came up short. We’re a confident group, we just have to play a lot harder. I think we played well enough to win.”
Dave Tippett
On the game:
“Three of the four goals are a couple of poor reads and turnovers. Our fingers were all over the goals we gave them. You come out of the first period, we knew they were going to come hard.”
On turnovers leading to goals:
“On the first one, McDavid’s turnover, Bear’s skate broke and he’s going to the bench on a change. You’re looking at that puck has to get in, but in saying that if bear’s skate isn’t broken he’s not going to the bench either. The Schmiddy one was a bad one, it bounces, but to me, our defencemen should go help him more. It’s just not one turnover, there’s some things that go into the repercussions of a turnover that you should be able to clean up.”
