What will the Edmonton Oilers’ new jerseys look like next season?
Little snippets and tidbits have been thrown into the ether, but the NHL and Fanatics confirmed Wednesday that soon all 32 teams will have a “first-of-its-kind” Hometown Remix jersey.
It would include a special edition uniform, apparel, and headwear, all part of its Hometown Remix program, which is specifically designed to appeal to the cities these teams reside in.
Back in June, morning show host on Sports 1440, Tom Gazzola, revealed what he was told about the jerseys from those in the know. It was described to him as having a Flint Tropics motif, from the movie Semi-Pro.
He said to take that information “with a grain of salt,” but that it would likely counter the cream-coloured sweaters the Oilers debuted a year ago, and had great success in wearing in terms of wins and losses. Think along the lines of the Toronto Blue Jays “City Connect” threads.

This Hometown Remix idea has been teased for months, and according to this joint statement from the league and Fanatics, it’ll still be some time before fans can lay their eyes on their uniforms. They say more information can be expected when the season begins, which seems a little late. Unless perhaps the jerseys are seen publicly first, but other details like sales and such only come when the puck drops.
Back in May, Hometown Remix jerseys of the Florida Panthers and New York Islanders were allegedly leaked and put on eBay. The authenticity of those leaks can be debated, but the Isles would have thrown back to the Flying Fisherman logo of the late 1990s, while the Panthers would take a spin on their palm tree logo with pink as the dominant colour.
Meanwhile, the Islanders have been doing a fan-driven jersey design contest for alternates that would debut in the 2027-28 season. The lighthouse logo looks pretty slick and was the eventual winner.
Islanders fans are fairly split on what Matthew Schaefer should wear in a couple seasons.
