This summer, Oilersnation will recap the top five Edmonton Oilers goals, the top five fights, and the top five overall moments from the up-and-down 2025-26 season.

Of the 82 games the Edmonton Oilers played last season, three of them saw the Oilers drop the gloves at least twice. The first time it happened was in an affair against the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 29, 2025.

One of those fights, Oilers’ Alec Regula vs Kraken’s Tye Kartye, was the third-highest-rated Oilers fight on hockeyfights.com this season. Let’s take a look at the fight itself, as well as the context that led to this fight.

Alec Regula and Tye Kartye square up late

It’s best to start with the context that led up to the chippiness of this game and eventually this fight.

On May 27, Mason Marchment collided with Zach Hyman in the neutral zone in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final. This was the powder. Hyman missed the rest of the postseason and even the first 19 games of the 2025-26 season.

Marchment, who had been traded from Dallas to Seattle in the offseason, and Hyman lined up opposite of one another, with Marchment giving Hyman a tap. In the final minute of the first, Marchment blindsided Darnell Nurse in the corner. Earlier in the game, he also ran over Stuart Skinner; it wasn’t the first time.

Down 4-0 in the final half of the third, the Kraken were frustrated, and the two teams got into two fights. First, Connor Clattenburg dropped the mitts with Frédérick Gaudreau, the Oilers rookie’s first career fight. Three minutes later, Regula and Kartye fought.

What Triggered the Bout Between Alec Regula and Tye Kartye?

It was a nothing play that started it all, as Kartye rode out Regula on the boards and shoved him a handful of times. When they finally dropped the gloves, Kartye landed the bulk of the punches, including all of the hard ones. Regula ended up on top, but Kartye was the decisive winner.

How will the heat Between the Oilers and Kraken carry over?

Of the 35 hockeyfights.com voters, 32 gave it to Kartye, an overwhelming 91 per cent of the votes. Despite the fight loss, this tilt was given a 5.51 rating on hockeyfights.com, the third-highest-rated Oilers fight this past season.

Edmonton dominated the season series. On top of the 4-0 victory, they went on to smash the Kraken 9-4 just five days later. Toward the end of the season, they shut them out once again.

On October 3rd, just the second game of the season, the Kraken and Oilers will meet up once again. You can bet it’ll be a chippy affair, given Ryan Lindgren’s hit on Evan Bouchard during the World Championship.
