Rock meet hard place.
The Edmonton Oilers may be without captain Connor McDavid Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug, the NHL’s leading scorer was absent from practice Wednesday — one of two alongside Derek Ryan — and it may be due to COVID-19 protocols.
Full skate happening for Oilers, Connor McDavid not on the ice. Derek Ryan also absent. Tippett will address post practice.

Am told McDavids absence from practice is Covid related.

With the Oilers absolutely reeling, the news couldn’t come at a worse for a team desperate for not only a win, but any sort of offence.
