For the second year in a row, it appears there will be no Penticton rookie tournament.
According to TSN 1260’s Tom Gazzola, the event has been cancelled.
Gazzola also reported rookie camp is expected to start around Sept. 15 with main camp kicking off six days later.
It was a once annual event held where the Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets would send rookie to compete against one another.
But last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was canceled and this year appears to be the same.
The Oilers and Flames, however, haven’t sent players since 2018. Just the Jets and Canucks battled it out in 2019. Edmonton was slated to return to the 2020 edition of the tournament.
