Tonight is a night of many milestones. After assisting in Alex Chiasson’s first goal of the game tonight against the Vancouver Canucks, Sam Gagner has notched his 300th career point as an Edmonton Oiler.
Yes, he’s only played ten with the Oilers this season so far, but that’s all he needed to pick up where he left off in 2014. I actually had no idea he was so close to 300 points with the franchise, but here we are. Gagner has five points so far in his 9.6 games played with Edmonton this season and has made a huge impact the moment he arrived. Just earlier in the game as I was watching Sam Gagner skate around in those sexy blue jerseys I kept thinking to myself how crazy it is to be watching number 89 in an Oilers jersey again. Who would have thought that it would be a milestone night for him?
The assist itself was a thing of beauty as well. He lays the body on Pouliot behind the net while separating him from the puck, then dishes it to the front of the net where Alex Chiasson was standing all alone and ready for the one-timer. Bada-bing-bada-boom and the Oilers have their first lead of the game.
