John Klingberg is headed to the West Coast.

Klingberg has played in only 25 regular-season games over the past two years between the Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
San Jose has finished dead last in the NHL in back-to-back seasons. They posted a 19-54-9 record in 2023-24 and then went 20-50-12 in 2024-25, stockpiling multiple top picks in the draft in the process.
Klingberg, who turns 33 in August, was originally selected in the fifth round by the Dallas Stars in the 2010 draft. He broke into the NHL in 2014-15 with 40 points in 65 games, good for fifth in Calder Trophy voting for the league&#8217;s top rookie.
The native of Gothenburg, Sweden, has played 664 games at the NHL level between Dallas, Anaheim, Minnesota, Toronto, and Edmonton, and has recorded 82 goals and 416 points.
