Super Bowl LIX is nearly here, and that means hockey fans in Canada will be temporarily turning their attention from the ice to the gridiron on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles clash in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome.
With only two early games on Sunday’s NHL slate, and none of them involving the Edmonton Oilers, some of your favourite personalities from OilersNation have taken a few minutes to share their best player prop bet predictions for Super Bowl LIX.
It’s true, offering up betting advice on the NFL might not be their collective specialty, but you’ve been relying on this talented group of hockey content creators for all of the breaking news surrounding your Oilers all season long, so why not hear them out and take their analysis into consideration before learning how to bet on the Super Bowl in Canada?
Oddsmakers are expecting a tight game on Sunday, with the Chiefs holding a slight advantage as one-point favourites over the Eagles on the spread. As for the moneyline, you can back the Chiefs at around -120 odds depending on the sportsbook and the Eagles for around even money. Jalen Hurts two or more passing TDs: +160 at bet365
Jalen Hurts will want revenge for the last time these two teams met in Super Bowl LVII. He had one passing touchdown against KC in 2023. This year, he has three in the postseason and 18 in the regular season.

Dallas Goedert over 52.5 receiving yards: -110 at bet365
After a regular season that saw Dallas Goedert struggle with injuries, missing seven games with hamstring and knee injuries, the Eagles tight end is heating up at the right time. Between Week 17 and the Eagles’ three playoff games, he’s cashed this over three times, with his lone miss seeing him put up 47 yards against the Packers in the Wild Card round.
What else brings me to this prop is the fact that Jalen Hurts has honed in on Goedert over these four games, targeting him 24 times for 19 receptions in which he’s racked up 243 receiving yards. His yardage is double that of both DeVonta Smith’s 121 and A.J. Brown’s 120 receiving yards, too.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, have struggled against tight ends for most of the season. Opposing tight ends have hit this mark in 10 of 19 games this season, with a few having huge performances. Isaiah Likely went for nine receptions, 111 yards, and a touchdown in Week 1, while Brock Bowers had 10 receptions, 140 yards, and a touchdown in Week 13.

Eagles over 1.5 rushing TDs: -140 at bet365, Saquon Barkley two or more TDs: +230 at bet365
I am looking at a couple of rushing props for the Eagles. We all know the infamy of the good ol’ tush push, so why not follow it? Jalen Hurts sat two touchdowns short of the league lead this year with 14, and one ahead of his running back, Saquon Barkley. The run game is the key to Philly’s scoring success, which is why I’m backing not only over 1.5 rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, which sits at -140, but also chasing it with Saquon Barkley to score two or more TDs in the game (+230 at bet365) as well.

Travis Kelce anytime TD: +120 at bet365
Kelce has averaged 87.5 yards in four Super Bowl appearances and has scored touchdowns in two of those four games. In last year’s Super Bowl, Kelce had nine receptions and was targeted 10 times, which makes me think he’ll be a primary target for Mahomes again this year.

Dallas Goedert 6+ reception: +165 at bet365
He hit this in his last playoff game when the Eagles beat the Commanders, and he caught seven passes. I think the Chiefs’ game plan will be very focused on stopping Saquon Barkley, and that could open up some mid-range passes, and that’s where Goedert feasts.

Saquon Barkley 130+ rushing yards: +160 at bet365
Barkley has had an outstanding year, which has transferred into the Eagles playoff run with an outstanding 205-yard rushing performance against the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game. Barkley has a favourable matchup with the Chiefs as their defence is vulnerable against the run, allowing 137.5 rush yards per game.
Saquon Barkley to score a first-half touchdown: -110 at bet365
Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley has been one of the most dominant players in the NFL this year, and he’s scoring touchdowns left and right. In the biggest game of his life, he’s bound to score at least one touchdown in the first half of the Super Bowl since the Eagles will definitely be relying on their run game.

Xavier Worthy over 54.5 receiving yards: -110 at bet365
It’s not a glamorous pick, but it can get you in the win column. Xavier Worthy has surpassed this total in three of his last four games and is coming off an 85-yard game against Buffalo. Patrick Mahomes trusts him in big moments and there’s no bigger moment than the Super Bowl. If you do want to parlay it with something, I would recommend his reception total of 5.5, which he has also hit in three of his last four.

DeAndre Hopkins 2+ receptions: +110 at bet365
While DeAndre’s receptions have fallen off the last few weeks, with one against the Bills and zero against the Texans, the last time he had less than two receptions was October 20th. I believe the Eagles will place heavy coverage on speedy rookie Xavier Worthy, leaving Hopkins open as an option, and if there’s any quarterback who can adjust during a play to find an open target, it’s Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
