Taylor Hall Selected for the All-Star Game

Taylor Hall has been selected to represent the Oilers at the 2015-16 All Star Game. He will be the only Oiler playing in the game despite Leon Draisaitl arguably deserving a chance to be there as well.
While I personally don’t care about the All Star Game, and don’t plan on watching it, I do think it’s funny how much controversy there seems to be about who’s going and who is not. To me, it’s hilarious how angry some people are that John Scott is going and Sidney Crosby is not. If I were a betting man, which I am, I’d guess that Crosby is actually relieved that he doesn’t have to go. I’m guessing he’ll look forward to the vacation he gets to go on during the All Star Break.
On the Oilers’ side of things, I think Draisaitl has certainly played well enough to be included but I don’t see it as a big deal that he won’t be there. This is Draisaitl’s first (mostly) full season in the NHL and he will have plenty of chances to lose his chance at a January vacation to go play in the All Star Game. Is he better than John Scott? Absolutely, but that’s not how the rules were set up by the NHL. John Scott got the votes and Draisaitl did not. He will have his chance to go in the future, I’m sure of that.
Will you be watching the All Star Game? Do you even care? Let me know in the comments section.
