What a difference a year makes! We all remember the recent past in terms of entries and exits, but if we journey all the way back to training camp one year ago—the list of names is enormous. Here are the sail on and the hello lists from training camp 2015 until today. (Photo by Mark Williams)

EXITS

  1. G Ben Scrivens: History suggested he would recover somewhat, and he did. In Montreal.
  2. G Anders Nilsson: Had a pretty good year, dealt to St. Louis at the deadline.
  3. G Ty Rimmer: Had a good season in Norfolk.
  4. D Justin Schultz: Puck mover sent away at deadline, discovered Stanley.
  5. D Brad Hunt: Solid AHL season, moved on (Oesterle and Laleggia developed).
  6. D Eric Gryba: He’s a good defender, he could be back but time is getting late.
  7. D Martin Gernat: Lost his way during entry-level deal, traded at the deadline.
  8. D Nikita Nikitin: I don’t think he was healthy for one month in 24 as an Oiler.
  9. D Loik Leveille: Had another strong Q season, went undrafted.
  10. L Taylor Hall: We all knew he was being discussed, still shocking to see him dealt.
  11. R Rob Klinkhammer: Stood out for speed, lack of offense. Strong, strong AHL run.
  12. R Teddy Purcell: I really liked him as an Oiler. Smart veteran.
  13. L Luke Gazdic: Saw NHL and AHL time in what was surely a tough season for him.
  14. L Lauri Korpikoski: Scored more than expected, they still bought him out for ineffective play.
  15. R Matt Ford: AHL veteran has never played an NHL game.
  16. L Josh Winquist: Another effective AHL season, he cashed with a contract with Bridgeport.
  17. C Bogdan Yakimov: Got the town excited with showings at the pre-pre Pearn, but uneven season.
  18. C Alexis Loiseau: Another Bob Green add, he is a nice young player. Caught on with Wichita.
  19. C Marco Roy:  He posted a decent season in the AHL, not enough to get an NHL deal.
  20. L Connor Rankin: Caught on with Norfolk after TC and then hit the books at Mount Royal.
  21. L Ryan Hamilton: Another solid AHL season, signed an AHL deal with the Condors.
  22. L Kale Kessy: Rugged winger didn’t do enough to get another contract.
  23. C Phil McRae: Big forward played well when healthy (35 games).
  24. R Andrew Miller: Speedy winger had a strong year, got himself loaned to Hurricanes organization.
  25. R Cole Sanford: Small skill forward had a strong season between two WHL teams.

ARRIVALS

  1. G Jonas Gustavsson: Curious choice for backup, middling NHL results.
  2. G Nick Ellis: Promising college grad, he posted a .936 SP with Providence (the one in Rhode Island).
  3. D Adam Larsson: A young and established NHL defender. Excellent fit for Edmonton.
  4. D Mark Fraser: Back for a return engagement, could see NHL time.
  5. L Milan Lucic: How long did we hear the Oilers needed a Lucic?
  6. R Jesse Puljujarvi: A brilliant young winger. Size, speed, skill, RH.Outstanding addition.
  7. L Patrick Maroon: Deadline addition could have been elected Mayor in April.
  8. R Zack Kassian: After a period of adjustment, the city has warmed to him.
  9. F Drake Caggiula: Impact college winger, Bob Stauffer says he may get a chance at center.
  10. R Taylor Beck: Don’t disregard this addition, he might spend time in the NHL.
  11. L Jere Sallinen: A curious addition, suspect AHL mostly but maybe an NHL look. Two-way W.
  12. R Patrick Russell: Scoring winger in college, has some PF tendencies.
  13. L Tyler Benson: Astute selection, he could be a home run pick.
  14. D Markus Niemelainen: Giant defender with mobility.
  15. D Matthew Cairns: Big shot from the point, nice range of skills.
  16. D Filip Berglund: Fascinating pick, good offensive defender with coverage ability.
  17. G Dylan Wells: Stats are poor, verbal very positive.

Let me know if I forgot anyone.
