- Make the hit
- Use his stick to trip him
- Move out of the way
It makes sense why this hit made the headlines. It was the only game on television that night, a big rivalry and a game seven. However, more conversations need to be about the other predatory hits in the first round.
“If he grabs him and guides him into the boards, you are probably more comfortable saying that was a legitimate hockey play. You can see he (Warren Foegele) is about to make a move, and he (Sean Durzi) cross-checks him directly in the back. That is the stuff right there, especially because it is two feet away from the wall. That area is where serious injuries can happen, and you have to take it out of the game. Rewind back years ago, and we saw a similar incident versus the Anaheim Ducks. It does not need to be part of the game.”
Shouldn’t even be a debate. Hits from behind are dangerous. Hitting a puck carrier with his head down crossing the blue line is hockey.

Any head contact, even if it's shoulder/chest first, needs to be outlawed.
CTE doesn't care if it's shoulder than head. The NHL needs to protect players.

Both are dangerous as Trouba was Scott Stevenson like predator like. That can’t be in this game as well as hitting from behind and repeat offender should be suspended and thrown out of the league if they keep the same behaviour up

Eberle saw numbers the whole way, floated in from behind, Cogliano didn't even see him coming and then turn, this brutal argument everyone seems to have that players shouldn't turn and put themselves in vulnerable spots. Like it or not the game is changed this isn't 1980 anymore.

The hits from behind have no place in the game. The NHL needs to start treating them that way.

Hits from behind have to go. Cogliano fractured his neck on the Eberle hit. Only time that’s unavoidable is when the guy turns last second. Meier hit? Gotta keep your head up hitting the blueline. Puck carrier has some accountability to not put themselves in a vulnerable position

Cogs has a broken neck, I think it's pretty obvious which is most dangerous. The rule is literally designed to prevent injuries like his, but the league decided that the rules didn't apply or something. All these hits are dangerous in their own way. Some are legal, some are not.

Bouchard and Cogliano. No question about it. Your neck can take a bit from the front way easier than behind.
Hits from behind should be an automatic ejection and suspension.
