The Edmonton Oilers announced, via their official Twitter account, that they have re-assigned right-winger Ty Rattie to the Bakersfield Condors. Rattie wasn’t here for a long time, but hopefully, he still had a good time.
With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scheduled to come off the IR for Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers, the Oilers had to make space for him in the lineup and Ty Rattie was the most logical player to head back to Bakersfield. Since being recalled, Rattie spent most of his time alongside Ryan Strome but wasn’t able to produce enough in order to stick with the big club. Frankly, Rattie didn’t get much done albeit with limited playing time.
In his two games played since being recalled last week, Ty Rattie didn’t manage to get a point or even a shot on goal, often spinning his wheels or being completely unnoticeable at best. Playing 14:24 and 11:03 minutes against Anaheim and Nashville respectively, Rattie struggled in his first recall with the Oilers, managing only five steals and no shots on goal. Should we be surprised? Probably not. In 37 NHL games, Rattie has collected 10 points (4G, 6A) with the Blues, Hurricanes, and now the Edmonton Oilers.
Rattie will now return to the Condors where he remains the team’s leading scorer despite the recall and will look to help them get themselves back into playoff contention. At the time of posting, the Condors are currently in eighth place in the Pacific Division, 12 points behind the first-place Tucson Roadrunners. In 49 games played, Rattie’s 40 points (20G, 20A) has him seven points ahead of Josh Currie who is second in team scoring.
Rattie signed a one-year contract with the Oilers on July 1st.
