WATCH: Connor McDavid’s crazy OT goal

Team Canada had a serious case of the Kristers Gudlevskis today at the World Hockey Championships and it resulted in them having to go to overtime against Team Latvia. Thankfully for Canada, Connor McDavid stepped up and scored a ridiculous overtime goal to save the team from a potential national embarrassment.
From another angle:
McDavid wins it for @HC_Men in OT after burying his own rebound off an amazing first stop by Gudlevskis #CANvsLAT #IIHFWorlds
Look at this ridiculous goal! McDavid takes a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (yes, his linemate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins!), waits out the Latvian defender, fired a shot at a sprawling Gudlevskis, and then stops at the side of the net to bat his own rebound out of mid-air. Good gravy, this is a gorgeous goal. McDavid is a gorgeous player.
Canada took the win 2-1 and they now sit at 3-1-1-1 for the tournament. They have one more game left against Germany in the round robin before the playoffs begin. For those who haven’t been paying attention, McDavid has had himself an excellent tournament overseas as he leads Canada with 11 points through six games.
That goal was certainly the goal of the tournament. Hopefully, though, it’s the nicest goal McDavid ever scores at this tournament because I would much, much, muuuuuuuuch rather him be doing stuff like that in the playoffs for the Oilers.
