After a failed tryout in the SHL, Edmonton Oilers prospect Raphael Lavoie is off to a red hot start in the HockeyAllsvenskan.
Lavoie landed with Väsby IK and has been playing some great hockey. In 13 games so far, he has scored eight goals and two assists including two beauties seen below.

It appears that Lavoie has settled into the second league in Sweden and that’s really great to see. So far this year, Lavoie is fourth in the league in goals scored and I wouldn’t have expected anything less.
Coming out of the QMJHL, one of his greatest assets has been his ability to score goals and that’s a big reason why Edmonton drafted the power forward 38th overall in 2019.
In seasons where he played a full year, Lavoie scored 90 goals in 185 regular-season games. In the 2018-19 playoffs alone that saw his Halifax Mooseheads host the Memorial Cup, he scored 20 goals in 23 games.
The true test for Lavoie, while he is playing against men now, will be on a small ice in North America when the American Hockey League kicks off sometime in February.
