When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When Columbus doesn’t draft Jesse Puljujarvi, and a potential second overall falls to fourth, YOU GET UP ON THAT STAGE AND YOU DRAFT LIKE YOU’VE NEVER DRAFTED BEFORE! Do we send Columbus a thank you letter? Bah… forget it.
Just under two months ago, OilersNation was heartbroken after the Oilers lost the draft lottery and fell two spots to pick fourth overall in the 2016 NHL Draft. But then, on Friday, the hockey gods smiled upon us, handing us a gift that we never imagined to be possible. Even when we lose the lottery, we still win the lottery player.
As you all know, we threw an another awesome Draft Party at the Pint Downtown on Friday night, and, thanks to Columbus, it only took the first three picks to make me lose my voice. We weren’t the only ones thrilled though, PoolParty himself had a hard time keeping his excitement contained. Not to mention, he dropped a hilariously awesome quote in a post-draft interview…

I was mainly inspired to write this article because I found a picture of Puljujarvi’s mullet when he was a kid, and I thought the world needed to see it. He may have had the best hockey hair I’ve ever seen, and he was only 10 years old. Better yet, now that we know the potential his hair holds, I encourage everyone to join me in trying to get him to bring the mullet back. Maybe it can be a playoff thing? Dare to dream.
Since we’re reminiscing about Puljujarvi’s hair, we must also take a minute to remember when Jesse dressed up as an old man, and absolutely destroyed little kids that were trying to play some puck. If I had the skillset he has, there’s no question I wouldn’t be doing the same thing. Here’s the video for those who haven’t seen it.
