Oilers Prospect Update: Kirill-er Week

Just a note for the Update: As the seasons wind down on the seasons for the Oilers prospects I will be adding in when they are eliminated so you will know when their updates will stop.

The Bakersfield Condors continue their long-shot push to get to the playoffs. They have been lighting up the scoreboard all over the place, including a franchise record for goal scoring with eight goals.

We have a smart cookie alert to extend. Tyler Vesel was named the NCHC senior scholar athlete. Meaning he has now collected the scholar athlete award three times in his career. He was also a finalist for the defensive forward of the year award.

    1) Boston College has been eliminated and did not make the tournament.

    2) I hope they sign Tyler Vessel shortly

    3) I wonder if (a) Safin will join the Condors and (b) if he’ll be back with St. John next year or if the organization will want him to turn pro and play in Bakersfield – he is eligible for the AHL as a 19 year old as he was drafted to the NHL from Europe prior to being taken in the CHL import draft – his contract would slide if he spent all year in the AHL as well.

    ex-Oiler update:
    Pitlick – 71 gp – 14 g – 11 a – 8th in scoring on Dallas, playing 3rd line minutes and a bit of PK.

Oesterle – 47 gp – 5 g – 9 a – 13th in scoring on Chi, not sure how he has been used but I know for a tine he was being paired with Keith.

    Pouliot – 67 gp – 13 g – 6 a – 8th in scoring on Buffalo, I assume 3rd line and PK.

Riley Nash – 69 gp – 14 g – 25 – 6th in scoring on Boston, don’t know his usage either, also not really an ex-Oiler but an ex-draft pick. He is a UFA currently on a cheap contract though, let bygones be bygones and sign him in the off-season?

Should have kept Pitty, Oest, and Pou, then shopped Pou for a trade this offseason, retaining salary if necessary, IMHO.

apologies for beating a dead horse on these former players. Pitlick was a personal favourite of mine and I’m still grumpy he’s gone.

I don’t know what Lucic vs. Khaira and a bunch of ex-Oilers have to do with the current Oiler prospects.

Aren’t there enough blogs, avenues, forums, etc. to post about this type of stuff?

Any thoughts on Maksimov’s plus 1 season?

I think it should be noted that a large amount of his points are primary points which makes his season that much more encouraging.
