Real Life Podcast Episode 219 – Minor Hockey, the NHL Draft, and Scott Hastings from OddsShark

A brand new week means it’s time for a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to get your week started while also helping you navigate the world around you. This week, the guys looked at the upcoming NHL Draft, changes to minor hockey, Big Brother’s triple eviction, and welcomed Scott Hastings from OddsShark to break down the world of sports betting.

To kick off today’s podcast, the guys looked at what’s happening with minor hockey and what it looks like to have kids playing team sports during Coronavirus. From following strict health protocols to changing the rules of the game itself to managing relationships, it goes without saying that these are strange days when it comes to trying to find some normalcy in a time when kids desperately need and want it. From there, the podcast shifted gears to focus on the current business climate and how this is undoubtedly one of the most difficult times imaginable to try and manage for local companies that are trying to stay afloat. For Jay and Wanye, that meant delays to the Umphreville Block project and establishing an outdoor strategy for Little Brick that will carry the cafe through the winter. Back to hockey, Ken Holland held his pre-draft conference call today and offered up a few tidbits on what the next week+ might look like for the Edmonton Oilers. However, that conversation was quickly derailed as Chalmers made his way into a convenience store to pick up a Slurpee, completely distracting everyone from the conversation at hand. Lastly, the guys wrapped things up by welcoming Scott Hastings from OddsShark to the podcast as he helped to break down the NHL playoffs, betting trends from the NFL, and the latest news in the world of sports.
