Edmonton Oilers defenceman Dmitri Samorukov will miss the next six weeks after suffering a broken jaw, the club announced Sunday.
The injury happened in Saturday night’s rookie game against the Calgary Flames after taking a big hit and the team says surgery is not required.
Prospect Xavier Bourgault was banged up Saturday night too, but was at practice Sunday morning. Jake Chiasson left the game with an upper-body injury and remains out.
The Oilers and Flames rookies will meet again Monday night for the final rookie camp game of the season. Oilers main camp kicks off Wednesday and a few rookies are set to be invited to main camp.
