A jersey is thrown on the ice as the Oilers drop their sixth in a row

We haven’t seen one of these in Edmonton in a little while.
In the dying moments of Tuesday night’s 5-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, one that stretched the Oilers’ losing skid to six games, a fan threw a jersey on the ice.
The jersey toss is nothing new around these parts and it’s even extended its way around Canada as a way for fans to show their displeasure. The Leafs had a jersey tosser a few games into the season and the Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks both had one in December.
The tradition started in December of 2013 and has happened multiple times since. This is the first jersey toss we’ve seen in Edmonton since the 2018-19 season when the team went up 2-1 before eventually losing 6-2 to the Chicago Blackhawks.
This certainly seems a wee bit dramatic, given the Oilers still own a 16-11-0 record for the season. I mean, times are bad, but they aren’t Dallas Eakins era bad.
Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this form of protest makes no sense. You’ve already paid for the jersey and you’re more than likely going to wind up buying a new one once the emotions have cooled down, so you’re certainly not sticking it to the organization in any capacity. Are you just doing it to insult the players? Is booing not enough? The jersey toss is just corny at this point, if you ask me.
What say you, Nation? How do you feel about jersey tossers?
