Baggedmilk on #theLOCKERROOM: Is it time to push the panic button?

Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while offering my takes on anything else that’s happening in the world.
Kicking off this week’s segment, we started with a review of last night’s debacle in Minnesota and how another strong start was wasted by a dreadful third period. For 40 minutes, the Oilers actually played quite well against the Wild, but then it all fell apart when it was time to close things out. That led some folks to think that the team can’t do anything without McDavid in the lineup, but as much as we will always miss him if he’s done, missing their captain was not the issue. Changing gears, we spent the next couple of minutes talking about Evander Kane’s intermission interview with Scott Oake, which had some people wondering about his attitude. Even though I would have preferred that Kane didn’t air out his disappointment on Hockey Night in Canada, it would have been much worse if he just accepted the demotion in stride without being too upset about it. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look at a defensive group that has struggled mightily through six games. Is this a product of the new D-zone system the coaching staff implemented? Are the players lacking confidence? Is this just early season rust? Regardless of the answer, I don’t think it’s time to hit the panic button just yet, but I’d be lying if I said my hand wasn’t dangling over it.
