Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we jumped in with a look at Jesse Puljujarvi’s new contract and whether this one-year deal means he’ll be sticking with the Oilers for the foreseeable future or moving on in some kind of sign and trade. Personally, I hope this new contract is only the start of a long and fruitful relationship between the Oilers and Puljujarvi, but we’ll have to wait and see how things go. From there, Lochlin asked me what I think about Jack Campbell and if he can give the Oilers some stability between the pipes for the first time in a while. That’s not to say that Mike Smith was bad — he was really good when he was available — it’s just that his old body started to give out on him and we need a guy that can play consistently. Can Campbell be that guy? I hope so. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look at some of the NHL power rankings that have started to come out, and surprise, surprise the Leafs are the best Canadian team again. Do these power rankings mean anything? Are they anywhere close to reality? I’ll let you decide for yourself.
