The hits just keep coming for the Edmonton Oilers, don’t they?
This morning, the Oilers announced via their social media channels that Devin Shore has been placed in COVID-19 protocol and will likely miss the next week or two as a result.
It looks like Devin Shore is back on the shelf for the Edmonton Oilers as he will miss the next stretch of games after being placed on COVID protocol this morning, only a week(ish) after getting back into the lineup from a lower-body injury sustained earlier in the year. In order to be removed from the protocol, Shore will need to produce two negative tests 24 hours apart (here’s another look at the chart  (page 18 of this document) to show how the process works), so, needless to say, he won’t be playing in Edmonton’s game Thursday against the Blue Jackets.
Shore marks the third member of the Oilers to enter COVID protocol this week after both Ryan McLeod and Dave Tippett were placed on the list ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Toronto. While there has been no update on how he’s doing, I think it’s safe to say that we hope all three Oilers make it through this period as comfortably as possible while they await their return. Unfortunately, this Shore news also spawns the question about if/how many other players will be joining McLeod and him on the sidelines as COVID is seemingly ripping through NHL rosters right now. Fingers crossed.
