Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
The Oilers have a chance to close out a ninth consecutive win tonight in Detroit, but to make that happen, they’ll have to do much better than what we got on Tuesday night in Chicago. Had it not been for Stuart Skinner’s brilliance, the Oilers would have lost that game, and it would have been a disaster. Thankfully, the boys found a way to cash in the two points and move on, but they’ll need to up their level of play in a very real way if they want this heater to continue. Coming into this game, the Red Wings find themselves on a three-game win streak and only one point out of a wildcard spot in the east, so you know they’ll be hungry for a win that puts them back into a playoff spot. So, what do I expect from this season’s first matchup between Ken Holland’s current team and his favourite one? I have no idea, and there lies a problem with betting on the game.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Detroit Red Wings.

Player Prop:

Evan Bouchard over 2.5 shots at -105. My $5 bet would return $9.76.

Easy Money:

Leon Draisaitl over 2.5 shots at -134. My $5 bet would return $8.75.

Risky Business:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to register 2+ points at +200. My $5 bet would return $15.00.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Oilers to win and over 5.5 total goals at +105. My $5 bet would return $10.50.

RISKY BUSINESS PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Last Game

Thank the sweet, sweet Hockey Gords that both Connor and Leon scored against the Blackhawks otherwise my betting night would have been a disaster. Simply put, I got way too greedy and paid for it. Even though the Oilers did end up winning, only one of my bets hit and thankfully it was the Risky Business bet otherwise it would have been a mess.
Here’s what I bet against the Blackhawks:
  • Connor Brown to score at +375 (LOL!)
  • Over 61.5 total shots at -111.
  • Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both to score at +250. ✅
  • Oilers to win and over 7.5 total goals at +220.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Red Wings.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
