The winning streak has come to an end.
The Golden Knights beat the Oilers by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday, handing Edmonton their first loss since all the way back in December. Below are the highlights from the game.

Things got off to a good start for the Oilers as the team opened the scoring at the end of a power play opportunity a few minutes into the first period. The Golden Knights turned the puck over at Edmonton’s blueline and Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were sprung up ice on a breakaway. McDavid fed the puck over to Draisaitl and then one-timed the return pass through goaltender Adin Hill to make the score 1-0.
The Golden Knights were able to get on the board before the end of the first frame. Alex Pietrangelo threw a wrist shot from the point through some traffic and Nic Roy was there to bury the rebound after Stuart Skinner made the initial save.
The Oilers managed to get quite a few quality opportunities on Adin Hill but last year’s Stanley Cup-winning goaltender was again up to the task. Among the best saves that Hill made on Tuesday night came in the second period when he stretched across the top of the crease to rob Ryan McLeod of a sure goal.
Tensions started to flare up at the end of the second period. Darnell Nurse gave Alex Pietrangelo a wack with his stick as the clock ran down but the officials got in the middle before the situation was able to escalate. Pietrangelo and Nurse were both suspended following Game 4 of last spring’s playoff series, the former for a wicked slash and the latter for instigating a late-game fight.
The Golden Knights pulled ahead for the first time in the game early in the third period. Jonathan Marchessault passed the puck to Chandler Stephenson in Edmonton’s right faceoff circle and he fired a quick shot that made its way through traffic and past Stuart Skinner.
Vegas iced the game with an empty net goal that put them up by a score of 3-1. The Oilers pulled their goalie with over two minutes left on the clock but weren’t able to get much through Vegas’ stingy defence. William Karlsson buried his 16th goal of the season into the empty net with just over 30 seconds left on the clock.
