Welcome, Nation, to a brand new episode of Inside the Nation, the twice-weekly web series where Dustin Nielson sits down to discuss all things Edmonton Oilers. This week, Dusty looks at Brandon Manning, the line combinations, Oscar Klefbom’s importance to the team, and whether or not the Oilers should be open to moving their first round pick at the upcoming draft.
To start off today’s episode, Nielson jumps right into things with a look at the line combinations, including when Brandon Manning will get himself back into the lineup. According to Ken Hitchcock, Manning will get himself into one of the next few games, but that’s not exactly a great spot to be in considering the defencemen that are out with injury. Next up, Dusty looked at Milan Lucic’s first goal in 42 games that came against the Sharks and whether or not that will be enough to get a heater started. Needless to say, the Oilers need the big man to get going if they’re going to claw their way back into playoff contention. From there, he looked at Oscar Klefbom’s importance to the Edmonton Oilers and whether or not he’s undervalued in terms of importance to not only the blue line but the defence as a whole. To close things out, Nielson takes a look at the rumour going around that the Oilers are willing to move their 2019 first round pick, and tries to figure out whether or not there’s a trade out there that makes sense.
