Inside the Nation: McDavid vs refs, Puljujarvi on the powerplay, and Koskinen’s road struggles

Hello there! We’re back with another episode of Inside the Nation, a Facebook Live video where Dustin Nielson chats all things Oilers and answers some of your burning questions.

The Oilers are just getting off a tough loss to the Vancouver Canucks last night and are looking to bounce back against the Blues tomorrow night. Giving up three shorthanded goals was not ideal, so Dusty talks about what the Oilers can improve with their penalty kill. He speaks a little bit about Draisaitl’s minutes, and whether or not they should find a replacement for him on the PK as well.

Jesse Puljujarvi had a great game last night again and got some excellent praise from Ken Hitchcock after the game. If Jesse’s been playing so well lately, and our penalty kill has sucked, maybe it’s time to try Jesse on the PK? This is something Dustin Nielson dives into and gives his thoughts on. Tying it into the question of the day, Dusty talks about whether or not Jesse Puljujarvi has deserved some powerplay time in the future.

Other topics discussed include alternatives to our defensive lineup and whether or not it’s smart to make a trade to replace Oscar Klefbom. Also, a hot topic around these parts lately is the treatment of Connor McDavid from the referees, especially in last nights game against the Canucks. Are the refs out to get them?
