The Edmonton Oilers did not disappoint at the Heritage Classic, coming away with a 5-2 victory over their provincial rivals, the Calgary Flames.
Right from the opening puck drop, the Oilers were ready to go. Brett Kulak got the scoring going within the first five minutes with his first of the season. Not long after, Zach Hyman joined in on the scoring after the Oilers had just killed a 5-on-3 penalty.
Nazem Kadri pulled the Flames within one, but Evan Bouchard responded before the end of the first to restore the Oilers two-goal cushion. Calgary pushed back in the second period, scoring the only goal coming from AJ Greer; however, two goals in the third period helped the Oilers get their second win of the season. Vincent Desharnais scored the insurance goal, which was his first career goal.
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will review everything that went down at Commonwealth Stadium last night. While Liam was at home watching on the big screen, Tyler was at the Heritage Classic. He will give us his perspective on what the event was like, from dealing with the elements to being able to see the puck. If you were in the stadium for the game, join Tyler and Liam during the leave show and leave your memories in the Finning/CAT live chat.
To close out the show, the guys will recap what’s been happening with the Bakersfield Condors, including Raphael Lavoie, who won the AHL Player of the Week. On top of that, they will look around the Pacific Division and decide whether or not the Calgary Flames are toast.
