It’s a frosty Friday afternoon here in Oilers land but we’re keeping our takes HOT as a means of warming you up. This week, we broke down the Oilers’ three-game winning streak, previewed tomorrow’s Battle of Alberta, and welcomed former Edmonton Oiler, Sean Brown, to help us make sense of it all.
Kicking things off, we got started with a look at the return of the Battle of Alberta, specifically what everyone expects from the first of 10 meetings between these two clubs. Will it be fight-filled and feisty? Will it be tame? Will someone use their stick as a weapon? From there, we looked at the Oilers’ current winning streak that included two wins over the Ottawa Senators and whether or not it’s reasonable to feel positive about the last week even though a pair of wins came against a bottom feeder. One major positive that could pay some major dividends is that several Oilers got their first goals of the season this past week, and for a team that’s been starving for secondary scoring, this can only be good news for the team moving forward. Speaking of first goals, how could we not spend a few minutes gushing about Jesse Puljujarvi’s beauty against the Ottawa Senators? Needless to say, we had to do it. Changing gears, we were thrilled to welcome former Oilers defenceman, Sean Brown, to the podcast to talk a little bit about his career, his recent foray into broadcasting, and what he thinks about the Edmonton Oilers so far this season. Finally, we wrapped up this week’s podcast by taking a few guesses at what Dave Tippett’s defensive combos are going to look like for tomorrow night’s game after news came out this week that Ethan Bear would likely be returning to the lineup.
