The Edmonton Oilers&#8217; AHL affiliate made a <a href="https://www.bakersfieldcondors.com/news/condors-acquire-bernard-for-mcphee/">trade Tuesday morning involving one of the team&#8217;s draft picks</a>.

The Bakersfield Condors announced they had traded <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/all-about-edmonton-oilers-forward-prospect-graham-mcphee">2016 5th round pick Graham McPhee</a> to the Belleville Senators, AHL affiliate of Ottawa, in exchange for defenceman Xavier Bernard.
Bernard, 23, is in his second pro season and has scored three assists in 38 games over the last two seasons. Drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round of the 2018 draft, Bernard was unsigned by them and inked a AHL/ECHL deal with the Jr. Senators ahead of the 2021-22 season. Bernard has spent more time in the ECHL with the Atlanta Gladiators, where in 43 games over the last two seasons he&#8217;s scored three goals and 19 points.
Bernard played with Condors netminder Olivier Rodrigue with the QMJHL&#8217;s Drummondville Voltiguers, and according to <a href="https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/335702/xavier-bernard">Elite Prospects</a>, played with Raphael Lavoie on five teams growing up including in multiple tournaments.
McPhee, meanwhile, returned to NCAA&#8217;s Boston College post-draft and joined the Condors during the 2020-21 season. He&#8217;s appeared in 63 games with the club over the last three years scoring just six goals and 16 points. This year, McPhee had spent time with the Oilers&#8217; ECHL affiliate Fort Wayne Komets, where in three games he had three assists.
